In in 1979, Michael’s opened in Santa Monica and redefined California cuisine.

In 1989, we opened in New York and redefined the Power Lunch.

By offering our guests beautiful American food that is constantly evolving, and always amazing, along with unstuffy service, we have created two restaurants we are extremely proud of. Combined with our  award-winning winelists (click here to see our New York and Santa Monica wine lists) and incredible collection of contemporary art, Michael’s New York and Santa Monica give diners an effortlessly entertaining experience every single time.

Michael’s Santa Monica is our first home.  It’s where Michael’s obsession with fresh, seasonal and local ingredients found full expression in the revolutionary style of cooking that has come to be known as California cuisine.  We have lush garden patio that will charm and relax you as our staff cares for you with impeccable service.  It’s a setting equally perfect for weeknight meals, joyous family events, and romantic dates.

Michael’s New York is all about the seasonal cuisine, too.  See and be seen here (we even do a power breakfast) in this hub of the media elite, and then keep coming back for the delicious, ingredient-focused fare.  Dine among Jasper Johns, David Hockney, Robert Graham, Frank Stella and Michael’s wife, Kim McCarty‘s stunning artworks in our main dining room and our airy, bright, and comfortable Garden Room.  Enjoy the attentive service without the stuffiness and formality that usually comes along with dining of this quality.
