November’s Michael’s Market Meet-Up: Pomegranate

The November installment of Michael’s Market Meet-Up in Santa Monica focused on intriguing, beguiling pomegranates. With their garnet-colored seeds and juice, this fruit is easily one of the prettiest ingredients nature ever created. The tiny, jewel-like seeds burst with tangy, sweet-tart flavor that is captures the essence of autumn. After perusing the farmers’ market with executive chef John-Carlos and Michael McCarty himself, we headed back to the restaurant to taste the pomegranates we had just selected. After sampling The Malibu Vineyard’s latest yield, we enjoyed masala-spiced quail paired with a Beaujolais; and then a white chocolate Bavarian with pomegranate gelée paired with mixologist Jason Robey’s “Desert Fire” cocktail.  It was a delicious meal wrapping up an absolutely delightful morning.  Thanks to all who joined us!
