November’s Michael’s Market Meet-Up: Pomegranate

November 16, 2011

Let's eat!

The November installment of Michael’s Market Meet-Up in Santa Monica focused on intriguing, beguiling pomegranates. With their garnet-colored seeds and juice, this fruit is easily one of the prettiest ingredients nature ever created. The tiny, jewel-like seeds burst with tangy, sweet-tart flavor that is captures the essence of autumn. After perusing the farmers’ market with executive chef John-Carlos and Michael McCarty himself, we headed back to the restaurant to taste the pomegranates we had just selected. After sampling The Malibu Vineyard’s latest yield, we enjoyed masala-spiced quail paired with a Beaujolais; and then a white chocolate Bavarian with pomegranate gelée paired with mixologist Jason Robey’s “Desert Fire” cocktail.  It was a delicious meal wrapping up an absolutely delightful morning.  Thanks to all who joined us! (And be sure to phone Michael’s Santa Monica at 310.451.0843 to reserve your spot for the next monthly Michael’s Market Meet-Up!)
