Come Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Michael’s Santa Monica

December 17, 2010

Looking for the perfect, delicious, relaxed, and delightful way to see in 2011? Look no further than Michael’s Santa Monica, where you can celebrate New Year’s Eve with great eats, great wines, Champagne, and live music—all in our beautiful, comfortable indoor-outdoor setting surrounded by the finest in contemporary art and accompanied by gracious service.

Michael McCarty, general manager/sommelier Andrew Turner, and executive chef Mikey Stern have put together an evening that will ring out the old and ring in the new in a way you’ll long remember. We’re offering two dinner seatings. The first, with reservations taken between 5:30 and 7:30 pm, features a five-course tasting menu including a glass of Champagne, priced at $95 per person (excluding tax and gratuity). The second seating features a six-course tasting menu with free-flowing Champagne, priced at $175 per person (excluding tax and gratuity), with reservations taken between 8 and 10 pm.

For each course, Andrew Turner has also selected optional wine pairings by the glass, with outstanding, often hard-to-find selections from top vineyards on three continents. This array of exceptional pairings is offered for an additional $75 per person.

Chef Mikey Stern’s menus feature a wide array of dishes created to enhance your feeling of special celebration. Just a few of the choices include Seasonal Oysters with Cara Cara Orange Granite; Seared Foie Gras with Roasted Pear and Chutney and French Onion Caramel; Crispy Pork Belly with Parsnip Ravioli and Wild Arugula; Butter-Poached Lobster with Dungeness Crab Risotto; Prime Dry-Aged New York Steak with Brown-Butter Potato Puree and Black Truffles; and a Flourless Chocolate Torte with Nutella, Pomegranate Seeds, and Pomegranate Syrup.

Throughout the evening, an extra touch of celebration will be added by musicians from the trio Inner City Romynze, specializing in a mix of American standards, jazz, and blues. The pianist will play solo from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Then, during the second seating, the full trio will perform starting at 8:30 pm and continuing until 1 am in the New Year. (Check out a few YouTube snippets of their awesome sounds performing “Perdido,” “Girl from Ipanema,” or “Norwegian Wood,”)
