Want a sweet fix but trying to keep it light during these beautiful summer days? We have an excellent solution at Michael’s New York right now, an almost fat-free version of strawberry shortcake made with a lovely alternative to butter-laden shortcake: angel food cake! This sweet, tender, absolutely delicious (dare we say “heavenly”?) cake is light as air. We serve a generous slice with strawberry-rhubarb compote and lemon frozen yogurt. The flavors play together so delightfully that, while enjoying it, you’ll probably never even pause to think that it’s diet-friendly. So dig in, free of guilt!
